KURI Regulations

At KURI we aim to make our centre a safe, stimulating, sociable environment for all dogs during the day and evening. To enable KURI to do this and provide a safe and healthy place for you and your dog/s, we require all of our clients to fully comply with our listed rules and regulations.
By leaving your dog/s in our care you grant us permission to use them for marketing purposes, videos or pictures taken by us. Please inform us at your assessment if you have an issue with us doing that.

All dogs at KURI must meet the following health and safety requirements:
DAILY (Day care dogs)
  • Dog/s must arrive no later than 9.15 am and all dogs must be on lead when leaving the vehicle. Under no circumstances must any dogs be off lead in the centre public areas or the surrounding public areas/car parks.
  • All owners must pay in advance for daycare places at the centre reception.
  • All owners must book their services including day care, training, health care, and grooming sessions at least 24 hours in advance. However we do understand if it is health care related then this may not always be possible, so allowances are made for the Vet and Chiropractic services on offer.
  • All members must provide 24 hours notice of cancellation or any change in schedule day/time.
    • Members will be charged in full for ‘non attendance’ if we have not received notification within that time period.
  • The KURI centre is open from 7.00am to 6.15pm weekdays and 9am to 5pm on weekends. Hours of operation for Daycare are 7.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday.  Members will be charged late fees of $10 for every 15 minutes to a maximum of $30, payable on arrival.

Attendance criteria for Daycare and where applicable other centre users
  • All dogs must complete the assessment process as named below;
Application form – to assess basic daycare eligibility
  • Assessment session  – attendance at KURI centre to assess suitability (this is a requirement for day care sessions only).
  • Evaluation and payment will apply to all new dogs attending KURI day care.
  • All dogs must be well socialised, or in training to attend day care.
  • All dogs must be non reactive and not food- or toy-defensive to attend day care.
  • Owners will certify that their dogs have not bitten, harmed or shown any reactive, fearful or threatening behaviour towards any person and/or other dog(s).
  • KURI Ltd reserves the right to remove any dog from daycare or any of the centres activities should they show reactive, negative, fear based or threatening behaviour at any time, this includes excessive barking or they show signs of stress.
  • Dogs that continue to show behavioural traits that do not comply with the above rules may be required to limit their visits and/or undergo training.

Age factors
Dogs from 7 weeks of age are eligible to attend Daycare.

Gender
  • Female Dogs should ideally be spayed, by no later than 10 months, entire male dogs will be assessed individually.
  • Occasionally female dogs will come into season before they are due to be de-sexed - they will not be able to attend daycare during this time.

Canine Vaccinations
  • All dogs must have up-to-date vaccinations as described in the New Zealand Veterinary Association policy Jan 2009 and those compiled by the Vaccination guidelines group of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association published in Jan 2016  .
  • We require proof of current core vaccinations namely, Canine Distemper Virus, Canine Parvovirus and Canine Adenovirus.
  • Vaccinations, all dogs reaching the age of 6 or 12 months require the booster vaccination and those older should be re vaccinated a maximum of once every 3 years, those that have immunity would not require this.

Pet Health and Welfare
The health, welfare and comfort of your dog is our main priority, and before booking we need you to consider the following and inform us of any issues:
  • If your dog has had diahorrea, vomiting, coughing or any other sickness 24 hours before they attend daycare, please advise us so we are able to control the spread of disease or take preventative measures.
  • Use of Antibiotics requires a stand down period for dogs on this type of medication, please speak to staff for more information.
  • Please inform us regarding your dogs health, including wounds, scratches, scrapes and/or injuries. Throughout the course of the day our staff will be checking the health of your dogs in our care, so it is essential we are informed about anything out of the ordinary.
  • If your dog has recently had surgery or any illness that may hinder his ability to attend - for any reason - please advise us. Dogs who are post surgery have specific needs and requirements.  If your dog has stitches it is imperative that they are kept at home away from other dogs who may pull, scratch or stretch stitches.
  • If your dog is not on a raw diet it is very important that you do not feed them in the morning, on daycare days. Dogs who are fed dry food in the morning need at least 3 hours to digest their food before exercising to prevent them vomiting their food and to prevent other potential problems such as gastric torsion (bloat).
