Christchurch Bull Breed Rescue
Christchurch Bull Breed Rescue is a dog rescue dedicated to the rescue, rehoming and education of bull breed dogs and owners. In addition, there is a community desexing programme to help low income families desex their bull breeds. Staffys, Pitbulls, Bullys and their X's are often over looked because of their looks and media hype. Bull breed dogs are NOT killers. They are loving, loyal, gentle souls that just need the right owner and lots of love.
We work to find forever homes for our lovely bull breed dogs and have a collection of beautiful doggies looking for a second chance in life. |
Dogwatch Sanctuary Trust
Dogwatch is a totally self-funded, registered Charitable Trust that was formed in 1983 specifically to rescue and rehome dogs and puppies who, through no fault of their own, have ended up in the Christchurch and surrounding district pounds and are due to be destroyed. The purpose built 5 acre Adoption Centre at 230 Dyers Road which is run by very dedicated staff and over 60 wonderful volunteers, is constantly under pressure to rescue those that are running out of time.
We usually have between 15 - 20 dogs who all have individual, warm sleeping areas, large day yards and a fully enclosed three acre paddock for exercise. During the day the dogs are stimulated with toys, agility equipment, interaction with people, socialisation with other dogs as well as exercised 2-3 times daily. Dogs in our care are desexed, vaccinated, wormed and vet checked. We get to know the dogs as much as we can and have a great process (refined over many years of homing dogs) to ensure the dogs are safe and loved and that they are placed in an environment that best suits their needs. As a self funded charity we get no government or council funding and rely totally on the wonderful generosity of the public and our volunteers to do what we do. |
SPCA Canterbury
SPCA Canterbury is proudly dedicated to preventing the cruelty and suffering of animals through education and enforcement. Each year we rescue, rehabilitate and rehome thousands of lost, sick, injured, abused and abandoned animals. With no government funding we rely heavily upon the generosity of our community to continue this vital work. Your support really does make a difference, thank you!
